Did you know that one of the main Alanya city attractions is the Red Tower – Kyzyl Kule?

The Red Tower is a symbol of Alanya and depicted on the flag of the city. The tower is located in the port, before it served as protection for the harbor. In 1226, after the Seljuks conquered Alanya, their sultan, Ala ad-din Kay-Kubad, ordered the construction like a guard tower Kyzyl Kule.

The octagonal tower at the base is 29 meters, 33 meters high. Even today, the tower is impresses with its monumentality. It consists of 5 floors and can accommodate 2,000 people at the same time. Construction of Red Tower was completed in 1226, but it took 12 years more for building the walls of the fortress! The Tower for several centuries reliably defended the port from enemy attacks from the sea. Nowadays, this is the most popular tourist place which included in the most of the excursion tours in Alanya. On the first floor of the tower in 1979 was opened a small ethnographic museum, where you can read about the history of the city, tower and the intricacies of heraldry.
The schedule for visitors depends from the season of year:
• From April till October, the tower is open from 9.00 to 19.00
• from November till March – from 8.00 to 17.00
